Vinyl Lettering

How the lettering height is measured.

Not sure which size to choose? This guide explains how we measure vinyl lettering, what affects the finished size, and how special effects such as shadows and outlines are accounted for.

The stated letter height is measured using the first capital letter of the main text only. It does not include decorative effects such as shadows or outlines. Depending on the font, the overall height may also be affected by letters with descenders, such as y, p, g, and q.

If your design includes a shadow or outline, the quoted letter height is based only on the front (non-shadowed) lettering. The overall finished size will be larger once these effects are added.

NB: These products are custom made and non-returnable. If you have specific size requirements or space, or would like to check sizes before ordering, please contact us, and we will be happy to help.

Arched, wave and bulge-top lettering (Excluding shadows or outlines)
The selected letter height refers to the height of the letter in the same way as the standard straight lettering.

Convex and concave lettering (Excluding shadows or outlines)
The selected height refers to the overall height of the design rather than the individual letters. Because of this, the finished length may vary.

Letter Length
The length shown in the designer is an estimate only. Different fonts have different character widths, so the same text can vary significantly in length depending on the font you choose. If your lettering needs to fit a specific space, we're happy to confirm the final dimensions before you order.

Background Preview
The background colour shown in the designer is for preview purposes only and is not included with your order.
All lettering is supplied as pre-spaced, self-adhesive cut vinyl on application tape, ready for fitting.
If you require your lettering mounted on a coloured background panel, please contact us for a quotation.
